I just finish reading this thread... its full of great stuff but ultimately this speaker system requires broad attenuation at 200Hz and has a deep notched at 8440Hz that cannot be accounted for!??
A project that started with so much promise ultimately ended with disappointment.

Did panomaniac get rid of these speakers? Whatever happened to them? Would have been nice to see some pictures...

Yes, he sold them when he moved back to Hawaii. His current speakers are OB in his own real cave!

This is no joke and IIRC the drivers are all that's left of a pair of huge MLTLs I designed for him, but couldn't take with him when he recently moved back to Hawaii: Caveman Speakers. The Troglodytes. - diyAudio

Anyone who is able to live in Hawaii is my hero. :-)

Too bad there are no pictures on the thread, save for the Hiraga systems...

    Re: My A7-500s. A journey

I too finally finished reading this thread with much interest. I will be my reference for me in the not too distant future. Still wish the pictures hadn't been deleted...
Thank you to all who made it such an informative read!!

Wondering about the 220Hz issue with the cabs. I have had a set of loose 416A's and 511/802D's that I have dragged around with me for about 20 yrs. I finally decided to go about building a set of 825/828 cabinets to make use of their superb design. The 416's need to be reconed as I did use them in a home stereo arrangement in my young and single days. They ended up damaged... I'll be building my own active crossover and solid state amps as well.

Might just start a new thread to document my own "Journey". That way I can contribute and get some help as I go along...

I don't even know how to respond, I would have booked two additional seats on that 747 for them.
